The Sledding Hill

I love this colorful winter scene from photographer, Paul Octavious.

And here, Paul has captured the same hill (located outside Chicago).  But this time, it's in the spring...

The New Rue!

The third issue of Rue Magazine was released today!  It's a welcome bit of inspiration, since we are completely snowed in here in Philadelphia.  I wanted to get downtown today to pick up some fabrics and for the second day in a row, I've had to cancel my plans.  The Design Center is closed.  But, I'll try again tomorrow!

So, let's take a snow day and enjoy these inspiring spaces, shall we?

Read the new issue HERE!

And, have a Happy Thursday!

Madeline Weinrib Atelier

I'm a huge fan of Madeline Weinrib rugs.  A total master in their industry, the rugs at Madeline Weinrib Atelier tend to set the trends that everyone else tries to copy.  Do you agree?  Whenever I'm in New York City, I try to make time to visit their fabulous showroom at ABC Carpet & Home...

a shot of the Madeline Weinrib Atelier, from a past summer visit.

I love the graphic patterns, unique color combinations, and luxurious wools that make up the collection.

Here are my absolute favorite, go-to patterns...

one of my favorite favorites... this rug is so playful.
great for a hallway or a kids room.

Les Touches Fabric

This is something I've never done on the blog before, but there's a first time for everything I guess.  I am placing an order for one of my all time favorite prints, "Les Touches" (seen above) and I thought I would open up the order to some of my readers!  So, if you are interested in ordering a few yards of "Les Touches" for yourself, just let me know!  I'll add you to my order!

It's a fabulous linen/cotton blend with an ivory background and pronounced black spots.  It's one of my absolute favorites because... a) it goes with everything, b) it's graphic and modern, and feels really fresh next to more traditional fabrics, and c) it never gets old.  This fabric always looks great.

Tommy Smythe (Sarah Richardson's number one assistant) used it on the wing chairs in his house...

And, just this week, I used it to cover a vintage footstool...

So, if you're interested in buying a few yards for yourself, send me an email at highstreetmarket@gmail.com

A Clear Glass Refrigerator Door...

Could you do it?  Get the guts to spend thousands on a refrigerator with a clear glass door, and then commit to keeping an organized fridge?  I know it's impractical, but I kind of love the idea of displaying your food in a beautiful way.  Plus, these refrigerators look so special with their interior light...

a wine refrigerator!  now, I could keep that organized. ;)

I doubt I could convince my husband to go for the clear refrigerator (and we are years away from building a new kitchen), but if I had one of these beauties, I would fill it with lovely containers like these...

all leftovers would be kept in this glass refrigerator set

milk and juice would be in these lovely glass jugs

fruit would go in this wire basket

and all the eggs would nest in this lovely ceramic egg crate.

Golden Globes 2011

For the first time in YEARS, I watched a red carpet show.  And I have to say, it was very very fun.  I loved all the gowns!  My hands down favorite was Emma Stone's simplistic, backless, Calvin Klein gown in the most lovely shade of pink.

Loved her hair, loved her low-key (almost non-existent) jewelry, loved her make up,
and I loved that awesome gold clutch.

And, there was more pink on the red carpet...

And, sparkly pink...

Coincidentally, the Pantone Color of 2011 is Honeysuckle...  PINK.

Correlation?  Probably not.  But, I had to bring interior design somewhere into the conversation.

I normally don't get into award shows, but I had a lot of fun watching the Golden Globes last night.  My favorite show, Mad Men, did not win for Best Drama.  Very sad.  But, the ladies of Mad Men looked lovely...

January Jones, Elizabeth Moss, and Christina Hendricks

I was also pulling for my favorite movie of the year, The Fighter.  I LOVED this gritty boxing movie.  Just loved it.  Christian Bale won for Best Supporting Actor and if you've seen the movie, you know that he totally deserved it.  These two lovely ladies were both nomiated for their roles in The Fighter...

Amy Adams and the Globen Globe winner, Melissa Leo.

Happy Monday, kittens!

Rope Knobs On Sale!

My friend (and previous coworker), Max, emailed me this weekend to let me know that these super cool "rope" knobs are now on sale!  You might remember, I blogged about them last summer

Previously $10.00 these knobs are now $2.95 each!

I normally don't go for unconventional hardware...  but these knobs are pretty simple and SO fun.  A little nautical, a little preppy, a little earthy.  I like them.  And so does Max.

A Modern Mix In The Hollywood Hills

One of my favorite images from the recent issue of Lonny Magazine.  This sunlit photo makes me wish that summer would start tomorrow! Cooper, the sweet pup above, enjoying the California sunshine, lives in the fabulously decorated home of Hadi Halawani and Kevin Howells.  Designed by Trip Haensich, this home perched among the trees in the West Hollywood Hills is modern and bohemian all rolled into one.  And all that warn sunshine?  I'm jealous.

I love this bright white entry, flanked by white sqaure pots.

When drapery is done with an inverted pleat, like these, everything just looks cleaner, sleeker, and less fussy.

I love the fiddle leaf fig, and the blonde wood of the coffee table and chair-- it suits a California home.  Plus, it really brightens the space.

terraces that seem to run the entire width of the house!

and a cozy guest room gets a little bling with an orange Hermes blanket.

even a fire pit!

...

With lows at 13 degrees (last night), I think it might be time to plan a quick vacation...  to a warmer spot.  Has anoyone been to Savannah, Georgia?  We're considering a road trip there!  Let me know if you have any insight!  I'd love to hear!

Happy Weekend, everyone!
